Thursday’s Something Else (Janáček)

tseToday I thought I’d go for a bit of Janáček – From the House of the Dead. There’s nothing wrong with it, just not the most exciting writing for the voice. If it were a symphony I’d think “the orchestration is so vivid, it’d make a great opera” 😉 In conclusion, I’d go see it, as it could prove more exciting that way.

  1. Regie, or Not Regie?

Do look for the Chereau/Boulez DVD. It is AWESOME. I am not sure I would ever just sit and listen to the piece, but I found it gripping. There are chunks of it on YT with German Subtitle(unfortunately the picture is not great, but I think it gives a good sense of it.)
