Thursday’s Something Else (Prokofiev)
Seeing as how I really like comedy and I heard lots of good things about The Love of Three Oranges I thought its time has come. It turns out I really can’t cope with Prokofiev… I made it through half of The Fiery Angel and this had to be terminated after 10min. Reminds me of this poster one of my friends had at uni: Just admit it’s not working.

I have to admit Prokofiev is an acquired taste. It was following a particular singer which led me to go and see Love for Three Oranges and The Gambler. I like him now but it took a while.
I know you love this one and I trust your taste 🙂 I’m not saying it won’t ever happen; maybe today wasn’t a good day, I was quite tired and distracted.
I think he’s one of those composers whose operas are better seen in performance than to listen to on CD.
Quite possibly. I’ll go see it one day when I feel particularly adventurous 😉
