in Lucia Edgardo will NOT be Juan Diego Florez. He hated the production and said no thanks
hehe, I liked it! I’m surprised they did not update the rumours site since he’s already spoken about it.
I’d do all the 2017/18 new productions if I could for assorted reasons. I’d even do the Boheme to see Fabiano as Rodolfo again. I would also have to do the Grimes. Of the 2018/19 stuff only the Janacek and the Unsuk Chin really appeal.
I haven’t heard anything by Chin, might have to give it a try. Also probably give Fabiano another try as I haven’t got the appeal yet.
Also, just found out, Krisztina Szabó is making her ROH debut in Lessons in Love and Violence. She is awesome and this breakthrough for her is long overdue IMHO.
I’ll check her out!
Saw her at Tapestry on Friday night!
oh, golden chance for you to sample CR!
Semiramide (Rossini) bring it on! I might go twice
i might lurk and join! a visit to London is in order soon perhaps, given that i just woke up after having dream flying to California but connecting in London!
ps2- oh, and after reading that loooong post on A. Gheorghiu i also dreamt hearing her sing! (but now can’t recall the opera, it’s also quite likely if i every hear her that i woudn’t even know the opera to begin with, or the character :D. in any case, in my dream, her voice was very warm and phrasing very “grand”)
you’re pretty spot on, her voice is warm though the phrasing is less grand than you might think 😉
btw, I haven’t seen anything from you or stray’s end regarding Juditha? Did that not happen?! I was prepared for long entries.
It did happen and it was killer but I suspect we’ve both been too insanely busy to write about it.
Great to hear you had a good time 😀
ah , ok, good to know life is also keeping you busy Stray, i was also lurking like D 😉 . in 1 week, i’ll write all about it!
ja, sorry, i wanted to write a veeeery long post, but i knew already ahead of time i wouldn’t have time until after 26/Feb ! i got set up to give a mother of all talk in front of some big ass names and funding agencies.. on materials i almost don’t feel i have enough depth to cover… so have been spending days and nights reading and now still on slide #5 of at least 20 slides.. with flight out in 1,5 day (same flight i had the dream with detour to London 😉 )
you mentioned that talk. Now that I know all is good I’ll wait patiently 🙂
meanwhile, you can check out this photo 🙂
Baroque singers = always cheerful!
you’d be proud of me, just done (full of swearing now) 95% of the final report.. (not on opera, on work…) and the 2 papers first draft were done.. and the review was finished.. so juditha writeup is in sight!
well done! you wouldn’t be so proud of me, with such a backlog 😉
oh right, and i had a dream 2 nights ago we were at the opera again (can’t remmber which), but it’s definitely a call for something coming up in 20 days 😉
it’s a sign! only 20 days 😀
and in between you have some spare ariodante i believe! (jealous, but i calm and ok 😀 )
Ariodante is in May, you can breathe 😉
ps- there’s a live rodelinda with Prina going on starting i think now (?) here (i think, i can’t sort out the spanish yet… to know if i have the right link.. or whether we have access… Agathe said it’s free..)
ha, thanks! how cool, it’s the one Giulia Tonelli saw in… wherever it is the other day.
hm, still seems to want me to buy a ticket.
ja, try medici.tv here , i get a black screen now , but it’s not asking for money 😀
YEP, the medici.tv works, i now have sound and image, very nice music
yes, I just got it work too! Thanks!
in the case you’d like to comment, how about just reply about here 🙂 , since Agathe, who can’t wait for Prina to arrive.. is head-starting it over there…
haha, ok!
now I’m confused when this is supposed to be on… I thought it was this summer but I guess it’s wishful thinking. If you book that round the world trip you might be just on time 😉
that’s what I was thinking 😉
I would always make the effort for Nina Stemme.
Bloody long opera though! I might have to train ahead of time and starve myself sound-wise to go through the bits when she’s not on 😉
Sorry to tell you that Rosalind Plowright is not singing Kabanicha in the 2019 Katya at the ROH
Thanks for the update!
