Thursday’s Something Else (Salieri)

tseHow did I, enamoured of Ariadne auf Naxos as I am, miss Prima la musica, poi le parole? Le parole are along the very same plot, although a simpler version. I’m pleased to learn that toss-together joke is so old; it always cracks me up. La musica is nothing like Ariadne‘s – what a surprise, right? – nowhere near as complex, but it’s good, of its time (1786). I like the sound of the 1780s so I like it.
